How much to pay per session?

Individual session: One hour $110.00 (GST incl)

Couples: One hour $130.00 (GST incl)

Cancellation: $40 (GST incl) – charged when you give less than 24 hours notice.

When to pay?

Fees are payable at the conclusion of each counselling session within 24 hours.

Options for payment?

You can pay by internet transfer or cash. We do not have an EFTPOS facility. Invoices and receipts are emailed for your convenience. In the case of funded referrals the provider is invoiced with the exception of Work & Income NZ.

What are the fees for a late cancellation?

The counsellor or client may cancel or defer a prearranged counselling session by giving reasonable notice. If the client fails to attend a session without at least 24 hours prior notice, a $40 fee* is payable by invoice within 24 hours of the missed session (see Terms & Conditions).

Terms & Conditions

Cancellation or Rescheduling of Appointments: We appreciate that periodically an unforeseen health, or other concern, may necessitate cancelling or rescheduling a session. We anticipate that if you, or we, need to do this we will let the other person know of this as soon as possible.

If we have sufficient notification of this we can allocate your appointment time to someone else. We reserve the right to stop working with you if you regularly cancel appointments.

If you are cancelling appointments regularly it may mean that this is not the right time for you to be embarking on counselling, or, perhaps another counsellor would suit your needs better than we are. We are happy to explore this with you to help determine what the issues are that are impacting on attendance, and, options for dealing with these.

Is there funding available?

Quotes are provided on request for funding purposes such as Work & Income NZ and other organisations.

Work & Income Disability Application for Counselling forms are provided for people to take to their doctor (GP) and then submit to Work & Income. A person’s eligibility for this funding is income dependent.

PHO (Primary Health Organisations) – we take GP referrals through Pinnacle Midlands Health Network, Hauraki PHO and National Hauora Coalition (NHC).

ACC Registration – We are registered as counsellors under ACC to provide therapy under ISSC (Integrated Service for Sensitive Claims).

What is confidentiality in counselling sessions?

Confidentiality in counselling sessions means that your personal information and session content is protected and private.

What are the exceptions to confidentiality?

Exceptions to confidentiality occur in certain situations such as when there is serious danger in the immediate or foreseeable future to you or others, when your competence to make a decision is impaired, when legal requirements demand that confidential material be revealed and finally, when responding to a complaint about counselling practice.

What is the NZAC Code of Ethics?

Our practice is based on the core values, ethical principles and ensuing guidelines as set out in the New Zealand Asssociation of Counselling Code of Ethics (NZAC, 2020):

Who looks after the counsellor?

Counsellors attend regular external supervision to attend to their self care and to ensure best professional practice.
